Airport brief sparks fear for village

A report which has sparked fears of massive expansion at Manchester airport has been dismissed by a Styal village watchdog group.

The Government study predicts that Manchester will be the fastest growing of the country’s four biggest airports and will handle 449,000 take offs and landings by 2050 - up from 213,000 in 2005.

National glory for Wilmslow’s lacrosse heroes

Wilmslow Lacrosse Club’s under-12s have won the British National Lacrosse tournament.

In the group stages, the Wilmslow youngsters (pictured right) experienced mixed fortunes and, after drawing 2-2 with Wacs, they beat Rochdale 6-0.


Tom gets top marks

Wilmslow High School pupil Tom Paterson achieved top marks with his recent karate performance in Windsor.

He was graded to first Dan black belt by the world’s highest ranking Japanese Shotokan master, Kancho Hirokazu Kanazawa, 10th Dan.


Gold for judo duo

Two students from the Wilmslow based Bushido Ju-Jitsu academy have brought back gold from the national championships in the Midlands.

Sara Harris and David Brough won gold at the British Ju-Jitsu Championships at Walsall Sports Centre, Birmingham.
